Mike Ohiembor, Men's Track and Field
AKRON, Ohio - Akron men's track and field redshirt junior Mike Ohiembor (Dayton, Ohio) was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by The University of Akron.
Recording a school-record mark in the men's triple jump at the Ricardo Romo Invitational on Saturday, March 26, Ohiembor soared 51-1.50 (15.58m) to break his own school-record mark of 50-8.75 set at the 2015 Mid-American Conference Championships on May 16, 2015.
The performance also represented the ninth-longest jump in the country this spring.
His efforts enabled the Zips to finish second among the six-team field with 121 points to best squads from Baylor, UT-San Antonio, Texas State and TCU.
