AKRON, Ohio – Ragen Engel (Springfield, Ohio) a freshman on the women's swimming and diving team, was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by the University of Akron, Ohio's Polytechnic University.
Engel had a successful Magnus Cup Invitational (Nov 20-22). Individually, Engel claimed three first place-victories. She took first place in both the 100 freestyle (50.67) and the 200 freestyle (1:50.43). Her time in the 100 freestyle is the fifth-fastest in program history and her 200 free time is the eight-fastest time in the program. Engel rounded out her individual first place finishes with a 24.84 in the 50 butterfly.
Engel was also a key member to multiple relay teams. Engel swam the first leg of the 200 freestyle relay (23.78 split) and 400 freestyle relay (50.38 split) to help the team's to place first. She was also a member of the 200 medley relay who placed first with a time of 1:41.38 and she swam the final leg in 22.80 to hammer home the win.

The Akron swimming and diving team returns to action on Dec. 4, as they host the annual Zippy Invitational at the Ocasek Natatorium.
