AKRON, Ohio – The 24 members of the University of Akron women’s soccer team, was named the Zips’ Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by the University of Akron, Ohio’s Polytechnic University.
The No. 8 seeded Akron team was matched up with the No. 1 seeded Ball State University in their first Mid-American Conference tournament appearance since 2011 on Nov. 1. The Zips played 110 scoreless minutes of hard fought soccer to force penalty kicks against the Cardinals. Akron came out on top in the PK shootout, 4-3 over the Ball State.
The Zips advance to the semifinals of the MAC tournament for the first time in program history.
