Ariadna Blinova, Women's Tennis
AKRON, Ohio – Ariadna Blinova (Riga, Latvia), a sophomore on the women's tennis team, was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by The University of Akron, Ohio's Polytechnic University.
Blinova won her fifth consecutive singles match after posting another flawless 2-0 mark this past weekend. The Riga, Latvia native aided the Zips to two victories over Milwaukee and Illinois-Chicago without dropping a single set.
The sophomore defeated Milwaukee’s Hayley Marshall, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles before overpowering Jackie Altansarnai of UIC, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. With the triumphs, Blinova improved to 12-6 overall and 5-0 on the spring season.
