Alexis Cooks, Women's Track and Field
AKRON, Ohio – Alexis Cooks (Colorado Springs, Colo.), a senior on the women's track and field team, was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by The University of Akron, Ohio's Polytechnic University.
Cooks was also named the MAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week after establishing a new school record in the shot put en route to winning the event at the Zips Invitational last Friday, Feb. 19, with a throw of 56-8.75 (17.29m).
The mark represented the fifth-best performance in the country in the event this year. Additionally, Cooks placed first in the women's weight throw with a toss of 68-3 (20.81m).
