SCOUTING YOUNGSTOWN STATE
Youngstown State enters its contest at Akron this Friday, Nov. 18, at 1-1 on the campaign on the heels of a 77-63 setback at Penn State on Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Redshirt senior F Lilly Ritz headlines Youngstown State's efforts averaging 19.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game, while senior F Paige Shy and junior G Malia Magestro are registering 17.5 and 10.0 points per outing. As a unit, the Penguins are recording 72.0 points, 33.0 rebounds, 18.0 assists, 4.5 steals and 3.0 blocks per outing.
Friday's game will be a homecoming for former Akron women's basketball graduate assistant Chelsie Butler, who is an assistant coach with the Youngstown State program.
The Penguins are rated 48th in the NCAA in assists per game (18.0). Ritz is ranked fifth in defensive rebounding (10.0), 11th in rebounding (13.0), 17th in free throw attempts (22), 38th in double doubles (1) and 45th in field goal percentage (.667), while Shy is rated ninth in triples per contest (4.00) and 44th in three pointers (8).

Jordyn Dawson led the Zips with a double-double scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, while sophomore Reagan Bass (Strongsville, Ohio) rounded out the double-figure scoring with 10 points and grabbed nine boards. Junior Annika Corcoran (Painesville, Ohio) contributed nine points.
Akron shot 32.3 percent (20-of-62) from the floor and 19.2 percent (5-of-26) from beyond the arc, while Youngstown State shot 32.2 percent from the floor and connected on 9-of-28 from three-point range. The Zips struggled from the charity stripe connecting on just 10-of-18 (55.6 percent).
ZIPS EARN 85-69 VICTORY OVER DAYTON
Akron parlayed a strong shooting effort with a stifling second-half defensive performance to overcome a six-point first-half deficit en route to posting an 85-69 decision past Dayton on Sunday, Nov. 13 at James A. Rhodes Arena.
Reagan Bass poured in a career-high 25 points for the Zips (1-1), while redshirt junior Layne Farrell (Franklin, Ohio) finished one shy of her career-best scoring effort with a 24-point, six-rebound performance. Senior Molly Neitzel (Rocky River, Ohio) added 10 points and six rebounds, while senior Dominique Camp (Dayton, Ohio) tallied eight points and a game-high nine assists.

Akron finished the contest shooting nearly 53 percent (.528) from the floor, including connecting on seven three pointers. After hitting nearly 52 percent (.516) of its first-half attempts, Dayton struggled offensively over the game's final 20 minutes as the Flyers made just six of their 26 attempts for a .231 shooting mark. The Zips were able to capitalize as Akron was 17-for-27 (63.0 percent) from the floor in the second half en route to the 16-point victory.
Akron forced 19 Dayton turnovers and turned those miscues into a 24-10 edge in points off turnovers. The Zips also posted advantages on the afternoon in points in the paint (38-24) and fast-break points (33-11).
