Akron Women’s Basketball Signs Kaylee King for 2026-27

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's basketball program announced the addition of true freshman Kaylee King (Lansing, Mich.) to the 2026-27 signing class, head coach Ryan Gensler announced Tuesday.
"We are super excited to welcome Kaylee to the family," said Gensler. "Kaylee brings a level of versatility in the post on both ends of the floor that we love. Her work ethic combined with her current skill set makes her future bright."
King, a 6-3 forward, comes to Akron from Wayne Memorial High School in Wayne, Mich. King earned four varsity letters and led the Zebras to back-to-back Regional Finals appearances, including a Regional Final championship in 2024-25. The Zebras posted a 19-7 overall mark in the 2024-25 season and advanced to the Final Four. In 2025-26, Wayne high school posted a 22-3 overall record as King led the squad, averaging 15.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.8 blocks per game. She was named All-KLAA First Team, All-West First Team and MVP of the Christ Webber event. In addition, King played in the Queen of the Court and Homegrown Classic all-star games.
