CLEVELAND, Ohio - University of Akron women's basketball freshman Shaena Brew (Rialto, Calif.) culminated her stellar rookie campaign with her selection to the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman team the league announced on Tuesday (March 10).

Brew becomes the 14th Akron player to be named to the MAC All-Freshman squad and first since Reagan Bass during the 2021-22 campaign.

Brew started all 30 games she appeared in for Akron this season en route to registering 11.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 0.9 steals per contest. She led the Zips in assists (117), steals (28), field goals made (123) and field goals attempted (272), while rating second on the squad in scoring (11.2) and points (337) and third in rebounds (117) and defensive rebounds (117).

Brew tallied an Akron freshman record 117 assists on the campaign, including a rookie single-game record 12 assists versus Ohio (Feb. 18).

She led all conference freshman in total assists (117) and assists per game (3.9) for all games, while pacing the league's rookies in conference-only tilts in assists per night (3.9) and rating second in total assists (67).

She ranks eighth in the MAC in assists per game (3.9) and 10th in assist/turnover ratio (1.2), while finishing eighth in assists per contest (3.9) and ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.2) in league-only affairs.

Additionally, she is rated 124th in the NCAA in total assists (117) and 129th in assists per contest (3.9).
