Akron Quartet Earns Academic All-MAC WBB Honors

2025-26 ACADEMIC ALL-MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RELEASE
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The University of Akron women's basketball team earned a quartet of selections when the Mid-American Conference released its 2026 Women's Basketball Academic All-MAC Team on Thursday, April 2.
In all, 49 student-athletes from 13 conference institutions were honored including seniors Liisa Taponen (Tampere, Finland) and Maddie Vejsicky (New Concord, Ohio), junior Ella Wigal (Granville, Ohio) and sophomore Liz Murphy (Yackandandah, Australia).
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport and have been at residence at their school for one year. True freshman and first-year transfer student-athletes are not eligible.
