Akron and Ball State are meeting for the 54th time in program history, with the Bulls owning a 30-24 series edge. Last season, Buffalo swept the series against Akron with an 85-77 win, followed by a 77-55 victory.

LAST TIME OUT
The Zips improved to 7-4 overall and 4-1 MAC after the Zips came away with an 83-76 victory over Ball State for its fourth-straight win in league play on Wednesday.  The last time Akron won four-straight league games, was back in the 2014-15 season. Redshirt senior guard Jordyn Dawson (Huntington, W Va.) – the only player ranked in the top five in the MAC for both scoring and rebounding – was once again an all-around force with 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the win. Sophomore guard Annika Corcoran (Painesville, Ohio) had a season-high 13 points and made a team-best four triples. Add in an efficient 18-point effort from redshirt sophomore guard Layne Ferrell (Franklin, Ohio) and the Zips (7-4, 4-1 MAC) had more than enough firepower for a victory.

- The 2021-22 season marks the 48th season of competition for the Akron women's basketball program.
- As a team, Akron ranks 15th in the NCAA and lead the conference in fewest turnovers (171),38th in fewest fouls (176).
- Akron ranks 76th in the NCAA and second in the conference in Blocked shots per game (4.1).
- Jordyn Dawson led the Zips a year ago averaging a team-high 15.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game en route to a third-team All-MAC accolade. She leads the team averaging 19.7 points and 8.9 rebounds, and leads the team with 26 steals.
- Jordyn Dawson is rated 67th in NCAA and second in conference stats in free-throw percentage (83.7), 24th in points per game (19.7), 15th in steals per game (2.80), and 69th in rebounds per game (8.9).
- Akron owns a 34-18 mark under head coach Melissa Jackson when shooting 40 percent or better from the field, including a 6-1record this season. When hitting at a 35-percent clip or better from beyond the arc, the Zips maintain a 22-15 mark, including a 1-2 record this season.
- The Akron bench is shooting more than 39 percent (39.5) from the field and at a .29 clip beyond the arc this season.

- Akron has connected on five or more three-pointers in nine games this season, and 39 of its last 42 contests overall. The Zips hit on a season-high 13 triples in a 97-54 win over Slippery Rock, the best single-game effort for Akron since making 16 three-pointers in the opening round of the 2018 Mid-American Conference Tournament on March 5, 2018.
- Akron is scoring 42.2 percent of its point in the paint this season, averaging 27.3 percent points in the paint per game.
- The Zips are shooting 42.3 percent (266-630) from the field and 75-227 percent (33.0) from beyond the arc. Akron has been out-rebounded by its opponents, 409-387 for a -2.0 margin. Akron has 171 turnovers averaging (15.5 turnovers per game) and has 80 steals (7.3 per game).

 SCOUTING BUFFALO
The Bulls, stand 10-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play under the direction of 10th-year head coach Felisha Legette-Jack after a 65-62 win over Kent State on Monday.  Junior guard Dyaisha Fair scored a game-high 26 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists. Freshman Georgia Woolley scored in double figures for the eighth time in the last nine games with 14 points, including 4-of-5 shooting from behind the arc and Summer Hemphill added 11 points and six rebounds.

Buffalo is averaging 78.3 points per game on 42.9 percent shooting (371-864) from the floor and 90-of-250 shooting (36.0 percent) from long range. The Bulls have a duo of players averaging in double-figures Fair leads the Bulls and ranks fourth in the nation in scoring at 23.8 points per game. Hemphill is averaging just under a double-double with 15.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while Woolley has scored in double figures in eight of the last nine games and is averaging 9.9 points per game. As a team, Buffalo ranks second in offense (77.4 ) and is fifth  the MAC in FG percentage (42.9).
