MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The University of Akron lacrosse team battled Robert Morris into triple overtime before the Colonials escaped with a 10-9 victory over the Zips in the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams on Sunday (March 17).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Seniors Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.) directed Akron's offensive attack registering a game-high four goals, while senior Jacqueline Glassey (Kildeer, Ill.) collected a team- and game-best four assists.
• Sophomore Macy Vail (Joppatowne, Md.) added a pair of goals, while sophomore Heather Carey (Williamsville, N.Y.), freshman Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) and redshirt senior Kaija Kunttu (Zionsville, Ind.) each added a goal for the Zips.
• Boyd, Hinchcliffe and Vail registered a game-high five shots apiece for the Zips, including four shots on net. Boyd also pulled in seven draw controls.
• Senior Antonia Trickett (Cleveland, Ohio) tallied four ground balls, while Hinchcliffe posted a team-best two caused turnovers.
• Junior goalkeeper Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) and sophomore goalkeeper Kylan Rhude (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) combined to record four saves.
