CLARKSVILLE, TN --The Akron Zips brought a 6-4 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hold on and fell 7-6 to the Bradley Braves Sunday.

Offensively, the Zips were led by freshman Hailee Sanchez, who went 1-for-1 on the day with a double and an RBI. Freshman Sophia Wygast furnished a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with two RBI. Freshman Macy Walters also chipped in for Akron, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Zips put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Akron got an RBI single from freshman Delaney Jenkinson, scoring Walters from second base.

The Braves failed to push any runs across before the Zips offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Akron picked up two runs when a single from Walters brought home sophomore Meagan Lee and freshman Sydni Hoobler, which brought the score to 3-0 in favor of the Zips.

Akron kept Bradley scoreless before expanding their lead to 5-0 the following inning. The Zips added two runs when a single from Wygast brought home senior Madison Dudek and sophomore Emma Seper.

Akron held the Braves without a run before their offense got back in action the next inning. The Zips drove in a run on Sanchez's one-out RBI double, bringing the score to 6-0 in favor of Akron. The Zips were unable to hold the lead, as Bradley scored seven times over their remaining three innings to grab the 7-6 win.
