AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron women's softball team travels to Youngstown State midweek non-conference doubleheader before hosting a conference opening three-game series versus Toledo this weekend.

Youngstown State comes into competition against Akron at 10-8 on the year, including 1-2 mark last weekend, defeating Norfolk State (5-3) and falling twice to UNLV (9-0 and 3-2). Ashlyn Bishop maintains a team-best .313 batting average followed closely by Kennedy Dean with a .310 average. The Zips are currently 7-11 overall record and coming off a 2-3 showing at the Cathi Maynard Invitational hosted by Austin Peay. Last weekend Akron secured a pair of wins over Rhode Island (2-1 and 4-0) while falling to Bradley twice (8-0 and 7-6) and Austin Peay (10-0). Akron is led by Meagan Lee with a .421 batting average and is coming off a 9-for-15 showing, hitting .600 last weekend with two stolen bases. Lee owns a team-best 24 base hits with 10 runs scored. Sophia Wygast has 13 hits and four homeruns behind a .271 BA, while Alexis Campbell and Lily Sullivan have scattered 12 and 10 hits, respectively. In the circle, Haley Croyle leads the squad with 11 appearances and seven starts with one complete game and 44.0 innings of work. She has struckout a team-high 20 batters with a 3.02 ERA. Macy Walters and Cailey Joyce have struck out 15 batters each and own a 4.49 and 5.20 ERA, respectively.
