SCOUTING TOLEDO
Toledo enters play versus Akron on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 21-4 on the campaign, including a 12-2 record in the Mid-American Conference, following the Rockets ninth consecutive win with a 84-64 triumph past Eastern Michigan on Feb. 18.
The Rockets are led by senior G Quinesha Lockett, who is averaging 18.1 points per game, with junior F Sammi Mikonowicz pulling down a team-best 7.3 rebounds per contest. As a unit, Toledo is recording 74.4 points, 36.4 rebounds, 15.9 assists, 7.0 steals and 1.8 blocks per game.

Akron came up short in its bid to stay atop the league standings as Toledo registered a 76-63 triumph past the Zips on Jan. 21 at Savage Arena.
Sophomore F Reagan Bass (Strongsville, Ohio) netted 22 of her game-high 24 points in the second half to spark Akron's offensive efforts on the afternoon, while also pulling down a team-best eight rebounds.
Senior G Rachel Martindale (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and redshirt junior G Layne Ferrell (Franklin, Ohio) added nine points apiece, while senior G Dominique Camp (Dayton, Ohio) dished out a team-high seven assists.
Akron finished the contest shooting nearly 38 percent (.377) from the field, while the Rockets connected on 45.6 percent of their attempts on the afternoon.
Toledo extended the lead to as many as 14 points in the second half before holding on to secure the victory.
KENT STATE EARNS RIVALRY VICTORY OVER AKRON
Akron fell behind early in its showdown with rival Kent State and couldn't overcome a strong performance by the Golden Flashes dropping an 87-46 decision on Saturday, Feb. 18.
Senior F Molly Neitzel (Rocky River, Ohio) led the Zips in scoring for the second consecutive contest with a team-high 14-point and seven-rebound performance. Reagan Bass added a 11-point and three-assist effort, while Akron garnered solid performances off the bench with six and four points, respectively, from junior G Alexis Stewart (Hamilton, Ontario) and freshman F Aila Miller (Berlin, Ohio).
Kent State shot 75 percent in the opening period and nearly 63 percent (.625) in the first half to race to a 48-30 halftime lead. The Golden Flashes finished the contest connecting on nearly 54 percent (.537) en route to securing the victory.

AKRON QUARTET TO BE HONORED ON SENIOR NIGHT
The Zips' contest versus Miami on Saturday, Feb. 25, will mark the final regular season home games in the careers of seniors Dominique Camp, Rachel Martindale and Molly Neitzel along with redshirt junior Layne Ferrell.
Camp has appeared in all 25 games this season in her lone year at Akron, including 24 starts, averaging 10.4 points, 3.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds per contest.
A trio of four-year members of the Akron women's basketball program, Ferrell, Martindale and Neitzel have appeared in 75, 89 and 89 games as Zips, respectively, including 58, 28 and 31 starts. The threesome has averaged 7.2, 6.0 and 5.9 points per outing entering play against Toledo en route to netting 540, 538 and 523 career points. Neitzel, Ferrell and Martindale have pulled down 307, 301 and 144 career rebounds.
DEFENSE HAS BEEN OUR CALLING CARD
Defense has been the key to Akron's success this season as the Zips have held opponents to under 40 percent shooting from the floor in 14 of 25 contests and 60 points or less in nine games.
Akron leads the Mid-American Conference in field goal percentage defense (.387), defensive rebounding (29.0), three point defense (.290) and blocked shots (4.48), while ranking fourth in rebounding (37.4) and scoring defense (65.1).
Reagan Bass is sixth (7.6) in the MAC in overall rebounding, while Bass is ranked sixth (7.9) in conference-only rebounding.
In conference-only games, Akron is rated first in the league in defensive rebounding (28.2) and in blocked shots (4.14), while ranking second in three point defense (.283) and third in field goal percentage defense (.407).

Akron has once proved to be strong in the paint through 25 games this season averaging 29.3 points per contest for 732 total points. The Zips posted a season-best 66 points in the paint in a 101-46 victory over Point Park on Dec. 2.

Akron has once proved to be strong in the paint through 25 games this season averaging 29.3 points per contest for 732 total points. The Zips posted a season-best 66 points in the paint in a 101-46 victory over Point Park on Dec. 2.
HOME COOKING
Inside the friendly confines of James A. Rhodes Arena, the Zips have seen a lot of success over the course of the past 18 seasons. When playing on its home court, Akron owns a 127-79 record dating back to the 2004-05 campaign.
This season, the Zips are 10-4 in the JAR, averaging 72.1 points per tilt and connecting on nearly 44 percent (.438) of their attempts from the field, while recording 39.6 rebounds, 16.6 assists, 8.1 steals and 4.4 blocks per game.
