AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's soccer team continues its Mid-American Conference slate welcoming Eastern Michigan to FirstEnergy Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 29, before traveling to Oxford, Ohio, to square off versus Miami on Sunday, Oct. 2. The showdown with the Eagles is set for 7 p.m., while the tilt against the RedHawks will begin at 1 p.m.

The Zips enters action on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 1-4-2 on the campaign following a 2-0 setback versus Kent State on Sunday, Sept. 25.
Freshman Emma King (Akron, Ohio) leads Akron with team-high marks in goals (2), points (4), shots (10) and shots on goal (5). Sophomore GK's Penelope Cuirinier (Mionnay, France) and Maxima Carlitz (Stolberg, Germany) have combined to register 23 saves en route to posting a 1.50 goals against average.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Jen Simonetti, the Zips return 16 players from last season's squad, including eight players who started 10 or more games. Akron is led by sophomore Katie Stafford (Gahanna, Ohio) who paced the team with four goals, an assist, and six shots on goal last season, while sophomore Sarah Nguyen (Irwin, Pa.) led the team with four assists and eight shots on goal. In the net, the Zips return Cuirinier, who made 18 starts in goal and registered 94 saves.
The Zips welcome three true freshmen to the squad in Ari Mahoney (Medina, Ohio), King, and Kristina Syragakis (Quebec, Canada), while also adding three transfers in Clara Krohn (Akron, Ohio), Merica Abnathy (Lakeland, Fla.), and Lacey Bernick (Huntingdon, Pa.).

Sophomores Maddie O'Farrell and Meagan Lukowski lead the Eagles with team-high marks in goals (2). O'Farrell paces the squad in assists (2) and shots (26), while Lukowski directs Eastern Michigan in shots on goal (12). Junior GK Rebecca Przybylo has pulled in 38 saves en route to posting a 2.12 goals against average.
SCOUTING MIAMI
Miami comes into play against Ohio on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 5-2-2 on the campaign, including a 1-0-1 mark in conference action, following a 3-0 victory at Central Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 25. The RedHawks have posted shutouts in five of their nine contests on the year.
Sophomore Makenna Morrison directs Miami's offensive efforts this season leading the squad in goals (5), points (10), shots (17), shots on goal (8) and game-winners (2). Senior GK Izzie Vaccari has pulled in 35 saves en route to posting a 0.67 goals against average.
As a team, Miami is ranked 25th in the NCAA in save percentage (.857), 33rd in shutout percentage (.556) and 37th in goals against average (.667).
SERIES HISTORY
The Zips will square off against Eastern Michigan for the 21st time in program history with the Eagles leading the all-time series 13-5-2. A year ago, Akron posted a 2-0 triumph over Eastern Michigan on Oct. 20, 2021, at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Akron and Miami are meeting for the 26th time in program history with the RedHawks leading the all-time series 13-9-3. Miami bested the Zips, 3-0, on Sept. 30, 2021, at FirstEnergy Stadium.
