AKRON, Ohio-Â The Akron women's basketball team will close out the regular season on Saturday, March 5 as the Zips host Miami for a 2 p.m. tip at James A. Rhodes Arena. Saturday will also serve as the Zips' Senior Day as Akron will honor its four seniors prior to tip off.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Akron and Miami are meeting for the 61st time in program history, with the RedHawks owning a 39-21 series edge. Earlier this season, the Zips took down the RedHawks, 66-53 in Oxford. Akron dominated the paint 44-24, while Jordyn Dawson recorded a double-double with a game-high 25 points and 10 rebounds.

Dawson had plenty of help offensively as three other Zips scored in double-figures. Freshman Reagan Bass (Strongsville, Ohio) scored a career-high 17 points, while junior Lonasia Brewer (Akron, Ohio) and senior Kendall Miller (Akron, Ohio) added 10 each.

LAST TIME OUT
The Zips dropped to 15-10 overall and 12-7 MAC after the Zips fell to Buffalo, 86-60 at home. The two sides played a back-and-forth first half, with the Zips pulling within two (34-32) late in the first half on a 3-pointer by junior guard Rachel Martindale (Pittsburgh, Pa.) before Buffalo stretched out to a 38-33 halftime edge. The Bulls then used a 27-point third quarter to expand their lead to 14 and held on for the win in the closing stanza.
Redshirt senior forward Jordyn Dawson (Huntington, W Va.) paced the Zips (15-10, 12-7 Mid-American Conference) with a team-high 23 points – her 19th straight game in double figures and 12th straight with 20 points or more – and added four rebounds and three steals. Freshman forward Reagan Bass (Strongsville, Ohio) was the only other Zip in double figures with 11 points to go with a team-best seven rebounds.

ZIPS PUNCH TICKET TO CLEVELAND
After the win over Bowling Green on Wednesday night, the Zips punched their ticket to Cleveland for the 2022 MAC Women's Basketball Tournament.

Jordyn Dawson has put up incredible numbers this season. Dawson ranks 7th in the nation in points per game (22.3) ranking 3rd in the conference, 8th in NCAA in steals per game (3.04) first in the MAC, 38th in NCAA in FG Made (185), 20th in NCAA in defensive rebounds per game (7.5) first in the MAC, 38th in NCAA in rebounds per game (9.6) third in conference. SCOUTING MIAMI
The RedHawks, stand 8-20 overall and 4-15 in conference play under the direction of 4th-year head coach DeUnna Hendrix after falling to Ohio, 73-64 on Wednesday night. Three RedHawks scored in double-figures with Peyton Scott having a game-high 23 points, while Ivy Wolf added 16 and Maddi Cluse chipped in with 12. Scott had her fourth double-double of the season, while Wolf matched her career-high with three steals.

Miami is averaging 67.2 points per game on 42.2 percent shooting (727-1799) from the floor and 167-577 shooting (28.9 percent) from long range. The RedHawks rank second in  the league in FT% with a 73.3 average. The RedHawaks have a duo of players averaging in double-figures. Peyton Scott leads the team and ranks fourth in the MAC in scoring averaging 19.8 points per game, while Ivy Wolf averages 12.3 points per game. Scott also leads Miami's efforts on the boards averaging 6.3 rebounds per game.
