NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The Akron Zips softball team dropped its opener in the Bruin Classic to Bradley, 7-2, on Friday afternoon.

Bradley plated a lone run. In the second inning to take a 1-0 lead, but Akron answered back in the third when Molly McChesney (Verona, Wisc.) singled to the pitcher and drove in Tiffany Stevens  (Toledo, Ohio).

The Braves broke things open with a three-run third inning that put Bradley ahead, 4-1/

Akron attempted to get runners home but left a total of four runners stranded through the rest of the game and couldn't add any more runs. The Braves would plate a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to secure the 7-2 victory.

Kalli Macintosh-Houlder led the Zips' bats with two hits on three at bats.
Â
Picher Olivia Otani (Canton, Ohio) suffered the loss after pitching three innings and giving up four runs on six hits, while striking out three batters.
Â
The Zips will be back in action on Sunday, March 13 as Akron will face Bradley at 10 a.m., followed by Belmont at 12:45 p.m.
