Playing for the first time in nine days, the Akron women's basketball team started strong, but ultimately fell to visiting Cleveland State by a score of 76-58 on Dec. 11 at James A. Rhodes Arena.

Senior G Rachel Martindale (Pittsburgh, Pa.) directed Akron's offensive efforts with a team-high 14 points, while senior G Dominique Camp (Dayton, Ohio) chipped in 12 points and junior G Alexis Stewart (Hamilton, Ontario) tallied nine in the setback.

The Zips finished the evening shooting 36.5 percent from the field and connected on 11 three pointers, while the Vikings connected on 40 percent of their attempts from the floor. On the night, Cleveland State outrebounded Akron, 44-35.
