Hadley’s Brace Leads Akron to 3-1 Win at Northern Illinois

DEKALB, Ill. – The University of Akron women's soccer team garnered a two-goal performance from sophomore Ella Hadley (Concord, Ohio) en route to earning a 3-1 Mid-American road victory at Northern Illinois on Sunday, Oct. 9.
"We are very proud of the way our players showed up, stuck to a game plan, and competed on the road," Akron head coach Jen Simonetti commented. "They put in a full 90-minute team effort and earned the rewards that come with that. They showed continued growth and commitment throughout the team and game today!"
Hadley gave the Zips the early advantage netting her third goal of the season at the 30:21 mark off an assist from redshirt freshman Stefanie Karras (Galena, Ohio).
Freshman Kristina Syragakis (Quebec, Canada) extended Akron's lead to 2-0 in the 37th minute (36:51) with her first career goal courtesy of an assist from redshirt freshman Laurie-Anne Renaud (Quebec City, Quebec).
The Huskies netted a goal at the 48:33 before Hadley completed the brace with her second goal of the match in the 74th minute (75:53).
Hadley posted a match-high four shots for the Zips, while sophomore Morgan Pentz (Broadview Heights, Ohio), Renaud and sophomore Calli Swisher (Alliance, Ohio) added two shots apiece.
Sophomore GK Penelope Cuirinier (Mionnay, France) pulled in a team-high five saves for Akron in the affair.
