AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's soccer team closes out its regular season campaign welcoming Ohio to FirstEnergy Stadium for a 3 p.m. showdown on Thursday, Oct. 27.

SENIOR DAY
Akron's contest versus Central Michigan on Oct. 16 represented Senior Day for a pair of Zips in Bailee Bowers (Dublin, Ohio) and Rielyn Hamilton (Burlington, Ky.).
Bowers has appeared in all 15 of the Zips' contests this season, including 12 starts, having recorded a trio of shots. Over her four-year Akron career, she has appeared in 57 contests, including 45 starts, and has recorded a trio of goals on the strength of 18 shots, with eight strikes falling on net.
A four-year member of the Akron squad, Hamilton has persevered through injuries to play in 12 games for the Zips owning a goal on the strength of five shots, including a pair on net.
SCOUTING AKRON
The Zips enters action on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 3-8-4 on the campaign following a 5-0 victory over Toledo on Sunday, Oct. 23.
Sophomore Ella Hadley (Concord, Ohio) leads Akron with team-high marks in goals (6), points (15) and shots (23), shots on goal (13) and game-winners (1), while freshman Emma King (Akron, Ohio) also paces the squad in goals (6), assists (3) and points (15). Sophomore GK Penelope Cuirinier (Mionnay, France) has registered 65 saves en route to posting a 1.87 goals against average.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Jen Simonetti, the Zips return 16 players from last season's squad, including eight players who started 10 or more games. Akron is led by sophomore Katie Stafford (Gahanna, Ohio) who paced the team with four goals, an assist, and six shots on goal last season, while sophomore Sarah Nguyen (Irwin, Pa.) led the team with four assists and eight shots on goal. In the net, the Zips return Cuirinier, who made 18 starts in goal and registered 94 saves.
The Zips welcome three true freshmen to the squad in Ari Mahoney (Medina, Ohio), King, and Kristina Syragakis (Quebec, Canada), while also adding three transfers in Clara Krohn (Akron, Ohio), Merica Abnathy (Lakeland, Fla.), and Lacey Bernick (Huntingdon, Pa.).

Ohio comes into play against Akron on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 9-6-2 on the campaign, including a 5-4-1 mark in conference action, following a 3-2 victory over Western Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 23.
Senior Abby Townsend directs Ohio's offensive efforts this season leading the squad in goals (8) and game-winners (2), while senior Regan Berg paces the team in assists (8), points (23), shots (42) and shots on goal (26). The duo of freshman GK Celeste Sloma and redshirt senior GK Sam Wexell have pulled in a combined 70 saves en route to posting a 1.41 team goals against average and three shutouts.

Akron and Ohio are meeting for the 22nd time in program history with the Bobcats leading the all-time series 13-5-3. A season ago, Ohio bested the Zips, 1-0, on Sept. 26, 2021 at FirstEnergy Stadium.
