AKRON, Ohio -Â University of Akron women's lacrosse redshirt freshmen Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.) equaled a program-record with an eight-goal performance, but the effort was not enough to lift the Zips to victory as Detroit secured a 15-14 triple-overtime Mid-American Conference triumph on Tuesday, April 13 at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field.

Akron played from behind the majority of the match, trailing by as many as four goals, before Kiefer and freshman Jacqueline Glassey (Kildeer, Ill.) tallied goals with 1:44 and 0:39 left in regulation for the Zips to send the contest into overtime all squared at 14.

The Titans' Annie Gilbert netted the game-winner at the 1:31 mark of the third overtime period to end the longest match in program history.

Redshirt freshman Abby McMullen (Medina, Ohio) added three goals for Akron, while garnering one tally apiece was Glassey, redshirt sophomore Kaylee Riggins (Zionsville, Ind.) and redshirt freshman Kaija Kunttu (Zionsville, Ind.). Elise Harder directed the offensive output for Detroit with a team-high four goals.

The Zips also benefited from two assists each from Glassey, McMullen, Riggins and freshmen Madeline Shewbridge (Cincinnati, Ohio), while freshman Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.) added Akron's other assist.

Redshirt freshmen GK Ashley Lapp (Missouri City, Texas) and Abby Lerch (Coraopolis, Pa.) faced 24 saves in the match, while Hannah Shrader and Maddie Johnson were peppered by an Akron single-game conference-best 40 shots.

Kiefer gave the Zips the early advantage, 1-0, with a goal at the 26:52 mark, before the Titans scored the next three tallies to assume a 3-1 lead.

Back-to-back scores from Kiefer evened the score at three at the 15:21 mark of the first half.

Detroit responded with four-straight goals to take a 7-3 edge with 7:12 left before halftime.

McMullen cut the deficit to two, 7-5, with goals at the 23:15 and 24:35 marks, respectively.

The two teams alternated the next four goals before McMullen capped the scoring in the opening stanza with a goal at the 28:50 mark to send the Zips into halftime trailing by one, 9-8.

Riggins netted the equalizer at the 7:22 mark of the second, half before the Titans responded scoring three of the next four goals to assume a 12-10 lead.
