Akron women's basketball head coach, Melissa Jackson, announced the addition of Adavion McDonald as the Video Coordinator on the Zips coaching staff on Aug. 15, 2019.
Â
"I am really excited to welcome Adavion into our Akron Family! He comes from an elite program working with the University of Maryland women's basketball team," said Jackson. "Adavion is extremely creative and good at his craft. I think he will be a great asset to our staff."
Â
McDonald spent the past year working with the University of Maryland women's basketball team as its interim Video Coordinator/Director of Creative Services. McDonald managed the daily video operations which included, film coordination, scouting, film sessions, player development, and assisting with advanced statistics. Â
Â
Additionally, McDonald assisted the director of advanced scouting in film breakdowns, created social media content (highlight videos, behind the scenes access, and recruiting videos), and coordinated video scouting information.Â
Â
Prior to his interim role, McDonald spent one season with the Terps as a Video Operations Intern (2017-18).Â
Â
McDonald first got his start in the collegiate basketball when he served as a Team Manager for three seasons at the University of North Florida. For the Ospreys, McDonald oversaw all team managers, managed equipment for travel, games, and practices, assisted with daily operations, implemented the statistical analysis of opponents for scouting, worked with player development, and assisted in practice/game film breakdowns.Â
Â
McDonald graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management in 2017 from North Florida.
