Zips Sweep NC A&T in Doubleheader on Saturday

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Akron baseball team swept NC A&T in a doubleheader on Saturday, winning 14-12 and 6-4.
Game 1
Akron 14-12
The Akron Zips(4-6) fought back from down 12-11 in the sixth inning to beat the N.C. A&T Aggies 14-12 Saturday.
Akron saw five different players record a multi-hit day. Austin Lafferty led the way with three hits, which included a double and a triple. Kyle McConachie had two hits and two RBI. Brennan Morgan recorded two hits, a double and four RBI. Easton Amundson recorded two hits, a home run and  four RBI.
Brady Bowen recorded the win out of the pen; throwing four innings, allowing two hits, no runs and striking out five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips scored in six different innings on the way to victory. After holding the lead two different times earlier in the ballgame, Akron broke a 12-12 tie and took the lead for good at 13-12 in the seventh inning.
GAME NOTES
» The Zips got two home runs off the bat of Amundson.

Game 2
Akron 6-4
The Zips swept North Carolina A&T to conclude a doubleheader on Saturday with a 6-4 victory.
Blake Bowen led the offense with two hits, a double, and two RBI. Easton Amundson notched a double and two RBI while Brody Chrisman drove home two runs and stole a base in the win
Elijah Griffith (2-0) got the win for Akron (5-6). Griffith went 5.2 innings, giving up four runs, all earned, on five hits and striking out three. John Allen also pitched well, going 1.1 shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out three out of the pen.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning.  Blake Bowen came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron and get them on the board.
The Aggies failed to push any runs across before the Zips built on their lead in the fourth inning. The Akron offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Brody Chrisman, which brought the Zips lead to 5-0.
N.C. A&T narrowed Akron's lead to 5-4 before the Zips stretched the advantage to 6-4 in the ninth inning. The score remained 6-4 for the rest of the game, as Akron held on for the win.
