AKRON, Ohio - The Akron baseball team returns to action for a three-game series with NC A&T, starting Friday, February 27.

SCOUTING REPORT
NC A&T enters the series with a 2-6 overall record. The Aggies recently fell to No. 8 North Carolina. Tyler Smith had two hits and an RBI in the loss.
Akron is the second MAC school NC A&T will face this season, with Northern Illinois battling the Aggies in the season opener.
Smith leads the way in average (.344), hits (11) and RBI (9). JT Taylor holds the lead in doubles (5) while Nick DiCarlo is the leader in triples (2). Marcus Bradshaw leads the Aggies in stolen bases (3).
On the mound, Aiden Hansen leads the way in ERA (1.93) in two appearances and 4.2 innings of work. James Van Meter leads the way in appearances (5) while Diego Barrett is the leader in innings pitched (7.1) and strikeouts (9).

Akron sees 14 players return from the 2025 squad. Those players include Parker Munday, Austin Lafferty, Kyle McConachie, Derek Occhipinti, Nathan Currah, Jack Fenton, Elijah Griffith, John Allen, Landon Vandegrift, Josiah Ross, Taylor Bednar, Blake Bowen, Henry Hayman and Will Heisler.

The Zips will be bolstered by 22 newcomers, which include 15 transfers and seven freshmen. Coach Bryan Faulds has brought in transfers Gio Melchione, Jeremiah Newman, Brody Chrisman, Kelton Phillips, Tucker Biehl, Ryan Jones, Adison Mattix, Samuel Guadamuz, Brennan Morgan, Easton Amundson, Prince DeBoskie, Mitchel Szymczak, Atticus Huffstutler, Floyd McKenna and Matt Brown. Coach Fauld's 2026 roster also includes freshmen Ben Winge, Garrett Groce, Cy Herchelroath, Brady Bowen, Gabe Mathison, Carter Beck and Trieg Matthews.
