Akron Scoring Duo Sparks Zips to 18-10 Triumph at Radford

RADFORD, Va. – Led by five goals from junior Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) and four tallies courtesy of junior Kellen Fletcher (Valencia, Pa.), the University of Akron lacrosse team registered an 18-10 triumph past Radford on Wednesday (March 19).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Sophomore Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.), junior Heather Carey (Williamsville, N.Y.) and senior Jaelyn Clinkscales (Rochester, N.Y.) registered multi-goal affairs netting three, two and two goals, respectively.
• Each contributing a goal to the efforts of the Zips on the day was redshirt senior Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa) and senior Graceann Schwab (Rochester, N.Y.).
• Boyd and Fletcher each garnered a game-high three assists apiece, while adding one assist each was Baumer, Clinkscales, redshirt freshman Hannah McGuire (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and sophomore Kaitlyn Sikorski (Plymouth, Minn.).
• The assist from McGuire marked her first collegiate point as a Zip.
• Fletcher tallied a team-high eight shots, including seven on goal, while Baumer, Boyd and Hinchcliffe each posted six shots.
• Senior goalkeeper Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) garnered three ground balls, while Boyd corralled nine draw controls.
• Sanders pulled in 12 saves for the Zips.
