AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron lacrosse team faces a rivalry showdown with Kent State as the Zips travel to Dix Stadium for a Mid-American Conference tilt with the Golden Flashes on Sunday (April 7) at 1 p.m.
SCOUTING AKRON:
Freshman Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, Minn.) leads the Zips in goals (26), points (34), shots (66) and shots on goal (52). Senior Jacqueline Glassey (Kildeer, Ill.) directs the squad in assists (13), while senior Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.) has recorded a team-best 57 draw controls. Junior goalkeeper Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) owns 83 saves and a team-high 35 ground balls, while sophomore GK Kylan Rhude (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) has added 22 stops on the campaign.

The Akron senior quartet of Noelle Boyd, Jacqueline Glassey, Alexi Hardy and Anjali Silverheels (Hamburg, N.Y.) will serve as the Zips' captains for the 2024 campaign.

Akron is meeting Kent State for the seventh time in program history. The Golden Flashes enter play versus Akron on Sunday at 4-9 on the campaign, including 1-2 in the Mid-American Conference, following a 12-11 setback at Eastern Michigan on March 31. Senior Jackie Wolford leads Kent State's offensive efforts pacing the squad in goals (45), points (55), shots (117) and shots on goal (70). The goalkeeping trio of freshman Sydney Davis and seniors Ella Gravitt and Taylor Monturo have collected 35, 47 and 45 saves, respectively, en route to posting a 14.67 combined goals against average. Kent State is led by sixth-year head coach Brianne Tierney, who owns a 27-60 ledger as a head coach for the Golden Flashes and is 50-85 in nine overall campaigns as a head coach.
