Akron Triumphs 17-7 Over Youngstown State on Senior Day

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron lacrosse team closed its 2024 season with a decisive 17-7 triumph past Youngstown State on Senior Day on Sunday (April 28) at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Senior Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.) directed Akron's offensive efforts registering a game-high four goals to go along with a team-best two assists.
• Freshman Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Macy Vail (Joppatowne, Md.) added to the offensive attack tallying three goals apiece.
• Netting a goal each was sophomore Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.), senior Lillian Bowling (Louisville, Ky.), junior Jaelyn Clinkscales (Rochester, N.Y.), sophomore Kellen Fletcher (Valencia, Pa.), senior Jacqueline Glassey (Kildeer, Ill.), redshirt senior Kaija Kunttu (Zionsville, Ind.) and junior Graceann Schwab (Rochester, N.Y.).
• Boyd and Glassey garnered two assists each to go along with one assist apiece from Bowling, freshman Presley Call (Delaware, Ohio), Hinchcliffe and senior Anjali Silverheels (Hamburg, N.Y.).
• Hinchcliffe recorded a team-high six shots, including five on goal, while Boyd tallied four shots, all of net.
• Sophomore Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) netted three caused turnovers, while collecting a team-best three ground balls was sophomore goalkeeper Kylan Rhude (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Baumer.
• Boyd led Akron with six draw controls.
• Rhude and junior goalkeeper Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) pulled in eight and two saves, respectively for the Zips.
• Akron honored 11 members of its 2024 senior class as the Zips recognized Bowling, Boyd, Kelli Fortman (Cincinnati, Ohio), Glassey, Alexi Hardy (Beavercreek, Ohio), Chloe Herrera (Houston, Texas), Mackenzie Kirwan (Appleton, Wis.), Kunttu, Sarah Rech (Gibsonia, Pa.), Silverheels and Antonia Trickett (Cleveland, Ohio).
