AKRON, Ohio --The Akron Zips took a 4-3 lead into the sixth inning, but could not hang on and fell 5-4 to the Central Michigan Chippewas on Saturday.

Offensively, the Zips were paced by sophomore Meagan Lee, who went 2-for-4 on the day. Junior Autumn Bailey put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-4. Freshman Lily Sullivan also chipped in for Akron, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

Following the game, the Zips honored their four seniors - Madison Dudek, Tiffany Stevens, Cailey Joyce, and Kalli Macintosh-Houlder.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Zips got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless.

The Zips then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the third inning after the Chippewas cut it to 3-2. Bailey came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron, which brought the Zips lead to 4-2. The Zips were unable to hold the lead, as Central Michigan scored three times over the remaining four innings to grab the 5-4 win.

» Akron went 3-for-9 (.333) with runners in scoring position.
» Akron pitchers faced 32 Central Michigan hitters in the game, allowing three ground balls and 11 fly balls while striking out five.
