Zips Take Two Games From CMU on Friday

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron softball team swept Central Michigan in a doubleheader on Friday, winning 4-0 and 7-6.
GAME 1 | Akron 4, Central Michigan 0
Freshman Macy Walters was dealing in game one, tossing a shutout to lead the Akron Zips over the Central Michigan Chippewas 4-0.
Walters (7-7) went the distance for Akron (21-25, 9-10), giving up six hits, walking two and striking out eight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Freshman Lily Sullivan drove in two runs for Akron with a single,that scored sophomore Meagan Lee and junior Autumn Bailey.
The Zips also added runs in the third and fifth innings on the way to the 4-0 victory.

Four Akron players collected at least two hits to help lead the Zips past the Central Michigan Chippewas 7-6 Friday.
Walters (8-7) got the win out of the bullpen for Akron (22-25, 10-10). The right-hander went 1.2 shutout innings without giving up a hit, no walks and striking out three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Akron's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a one-run flyout off the bat of freshman Katie Cantrell.
The Chippewas then rallied to score three runs and take a 6-4 lead before the Zips got back on the board in the sixth. Akron scored three runs, all of them coming on a three-run homer off the bat of freshman Sophia Wygast, scoring sophomore Brooke Sivek and Lee, which brought the score to 7-6 in favor of the Zips. The score remained 7-6 for the rest of the game, as Akron held on for the win.
