MUNCIE, Ind. --Sophomore Meagan Lee totaled three hits, but the Akron Zips fell to the Ball State Cardinals 7-6 Sunday.

In addition to her three hits, Lee had two RBI to lead the Zips. Freshman Lily Sullivan put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Freshman Hailee Sanchez also chipped in for Akron, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding an RBI.

Sophomore Haley Croyle (7-10) got the ball to start for Akron (20-25, 8-10) and took the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the third inning. Lee drove in two runs for Akron with a single, that scored freshman Delaney Jenkinson and sophomore Brooke Sivek.

The Zips lost the lead they built in the third, but got back on the board in the fifth trailing 3-2. Akron brought home a pair, with one run driven in by Sullivan's single, which brought the score to 4-3 in favor of the Zips.

Akron's lead had evaporated once the seventh inning came around and turned into a 7-4 Ball State advantage, when the Zips cut that deficit to 7-6. Sanchez's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run output in the frame for the Zips. The ballgame ended with that seventh inning rally falling short.
