AKRON, Ohio - Morgan Sizemore's pinch hit grand slam wasn't enough to power the Zips in a 13-5 loss to the Miami RedHawks on Sunday.

Sizemore went 1-for-2 with a home run in addition to her four RBI for the Zips. Sophomore Brooke Sivek put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3. Sophomore Meagan Lee also chipped in for Akron, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

Freshman Macy Walters (5-7) started and took the loss in the circle for Akron (18-23, 7-8).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 7-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the third inning. Akron got an RBI single from Lee, scoring senior Tiffany Stevens from third base.

The Zips deficit expanded to 8-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the fourth inning. Akron got a grand slam from Sizemore to score all four of their runs in the inning, which tightened the RedHawks lead to 8-5. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as Miami (OH) added five runs to their tally on the way to a 13-5 final.
