Akron Earns 15-9 Triumph Past Gardner-Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – University of Akron senior Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.) netted a game-high four goals to lift the Zips to a 15-9 lacrosse triumph past Gardner-Webb on Saturday (March 9).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Boyd, freshman Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Kellen Fletcher (Valenica, Pa.) led Akron's offensive efforts recording four, three and two goals, respectively.
• Tallying one goal apiece for the Zips were sophomores Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) and Heather Carey (Williamsville, N.Y.), junior Jaelyn Clinkscales (Rochester, N.Y.), redshirt senior Kaija Kunttu (Zionsville, Ind.), freshman Kaitlyn Sikorski (Plymouth, Minn.) and sophomore Macy Vail (Joppatowne, Md.).
• Sikorski earned a game-high two assists in the affair, while Boyd, senior Jacqueline Glassey (Kildeer, Ill.) and Vail were each credited with one assist.
• Hinchcliffe, Boyd and Carey registered eight, eight and six shots, respectively, for the Zips, including six, five and five shots on goal.
• Junior goalkeeper Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) pulled in seven saves in net for Akron, while sophomore goalkeeper Kylan Rhude (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) recorded a stop in the final period of the contest for the Zips.
