Akron Falls 9-6 to Northern Illinois Despite Late Lead

AKRON, Ohio --The Akron Zips brought a 6-5 lead into the ninth inning, but could not hold on and fell 9-6 to the Northern Illinois Huskies Saturday.
Offensively, the Zips were led by Nicky Sackett, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double and two RBI. Charlie Rhee put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Breydan Cavey also chipped in for Akron, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the seventh inning. Akron's offense started clicking and put up six runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Sackett. The Zips were unable to hold the lead, as Northern Illinois scored four times in the ninth inning to grab the 9-6 win.
