Akron Earns 2-1 Walk-Off Victory Over Northern Illinois

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron Zips rallied to score one in the ninth inning to secure a 2-1 victory over the Northern Illinois Huskies Sunday.
Yassir Kahook (1-0) got the win out of the bullpen for Akron (4-14, 1-5). The right-hander went 2.1 shutout innings, giving up two hits, no walks and striking out one. Spencer Atkins started the ballgame and went 6.2 innings, surrendering one run on six hits, walking one and striking out eight.
At the plate, the Zips were led by M. Bowman, who went 2-for-4 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Bowman came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron and get them on the board.
Northern Illinois then rallied to tie the ballgame at 1-1 before Akron walked it off in the bottom of the ninth when Sam Seeker came across to score on a passed ball with the bases loaded
GAME NOTES
» Atkins struck out eight Huskies hitters.
» Akron's highest scoring inning was the ninth, when it pushed one run across.
» The Zips had control of the rest of the game after moving ahead of the Huskies 1-0 in the bottom of the second.
