Zips Conclude Regular Season with Miami - Senior Day on Saturday

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron baseball team concludes the regular season when it hosts Miami (OH) for three games, starting on Thursday, May 14. The Zips are set to honor six seniors on Saturday, May 16.

Akron enters the series with a 21-31 overall record, an 11-19 record in the MAC and an 8-11 record at Skeeles Field.
The Zips recently fell at Oakland, 13-10, on Tuesday. Easton Amundson went 5-for-5 at the plate, supplementing his two home runs with a double while driving in six runs.  Kyle McConachie added to Amundson's awesome power-hitting performance by going 2-for-3 with two RBI.  Kelton Phillips also chipped in for the Zips, going 3-for-6 with an RBI. Taylor Bednar was a bright spot for the Zips, starting the ballgame and throwing three innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on three hits, with one walk and three strikeouts. Nathan Currah threw one inning in relief, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out two.
Brody Chrisman leads the Zips in average (.360), runs scored (52), hits (72), doubles (14), stolen bases (22), while ranking second in home runs (12) and RBI (48). Easton Amundson is the leader in home runs (15), triples (2) and RBI (51), while Blake Bowen leads the squad in walks (57) and is second in doubles (12).
On the mound, Brady Bowen, Elijah Griffith and Trieg Matthews all hold three wins for the Zips. Parker Munday leads the staff with a 3.09 ERA in 17 appearances, 23.1 innings and 31 strikeouts. Floyd McKenna leads the way in appearances (21) and saves (7). Griffith holds the top mark for innings pitched (71.2) and strikeouts (49).
As a team, Akron is hitting .278 with 352 runs scored on 475 hits. The Zips have 311 RBI, 101 doubles, six triples and 49 home runs. The Zips are 121-of-145 on stolen bases this season. The Blue and Gold's pitching staff has allowed 421 runs, 359 earned, while striking out 363 and walking 307.Â
SCOUTING REPORT
The RedHawks enter the series with a 35-15 overall record, a 22-8 record in the MAC and a 14-10 record on the road. Miami recently swept UMass, winning 9-8, 10-8 and 8-7.
Tommy Harrison leads the RedHawks in average (.386), hits (73), RBI (72) and is tied with Evan Applewick for home runs (13). Marcus Dierks is the leader in runs (65) and stolen bases (35), while Diego Cruz leads the way in doubles (17). Applewick is the leader in walks (54).
On the mound, Austin Berggren leads the staff with a 3.89 ERA in 21 appearances, 39.1 innings of work, seven saves and 56 strikeouts. Clayton Burke has recorded eight wins over 13 appearances and 12 starts with 69.2 innings of work and 65 strikeouts. Carson Byers is tied with Berggren in appearances, throwing 59.1 innings with 55 strikeouts.
As a team, Miami is hitting .307 with 472 runs scored on 520 hits. The RedHawks have 436 RBI, 107 doubles, 11 triples and 80 home runs. The RedHawks are 95-of-117 on stolen bases this season. Miami's pitching staff has allowed 328 runs, 276 earned, while striking out 386 and walking 173.Â
