AKRON, OH --Though they had plenty of opportunities, Akron had a hard time cashing them in, leaving 11 Zips on base in a 10-4 defeat at the hands of the Northern Illinois Huskies on Friday.

Jack Kelley was a bright spot for the Zips, coming out of the bullpen and throwing four scoreless innings, allowing no hits, with three walks and four strikeouts.

Fisher Pyatt led the way offensively for the Zips, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run and two RBI. Sam Seeker provided a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-5 with a home run and an RBI. James Strom also helped out, going 2-for-5 for Akron with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 7-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Akron plated two runs when Pyatt left the yard with Charlie Rhee aboard.

The Zips kept the deficit at 7-2 before closing the gap further in the seventh. Jack Poist came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron, which tightened the Huskies lead to 7-3.

Northern Illinois expanded their lead to 10-3 before the Akron offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 10-4 in the ninth. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
