Zips Fall to Pittsburgh, 13-3

PITTSBURGH, PA -Â Evan Bottone went 1-for-3 with a double and three RBI for the Akron Zips in a 13-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Panthers on Tuesday.
Bottone led the way offensively for the Zips, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a double, a walk and three RBI. Max Bowman provided a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Jack Kelley (1-1) got the ball to start for Akron (3-12) and took the loss. Josiah Ross was a bright spot for the Zips, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing no hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips were trailing 4-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Bottone's bases-clearing double put all three runs on the board in the inning for Akron. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as Pittsburgh added nine runs to their tally on the way to a 13-3 final.

» Akron's highest scoring inning was the second, when it pushed three runs across.
