Second-Half Rally Lifts Duquesne Past Akron, 12-9

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The University of Akron lacrosse team was unable to overcome a second-half rally by Duquesne as the Zips dropped a 12-9 decision to the Dukes on Tuesday (Feb. 27).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Junior Jaelyn Clinkscales (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Macy Vail (Joppatowne, Md.) directed the Akron attack with three goal each.
• Freshmen Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) and Kaitlyn Sikorski (Plymouth, Minn.) added three and two assists, respectively, for the Zips.
• Senior Jacqueline Glassey (Kildeer, Ill.) registered a team-high six shots, including two on goal, while Clinkscales posted five shots with three falling on frame.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) led the Zips with 11 saves, while senior Antonia Trickett (Cleveland, Ohio) tallied a team-high five ground balls and sophomore Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded five caused turnovers.
• Baumer, senior Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.) and sophomore Heather Carey (Williamsville, N.Y.) notched four draw controls apiece.

Akron travels to Cincinnati, Ohio, for a 2:30 p.m. match at Xavier on Saturday (March 2).
