AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's and women's track and field team garnered 10 victories as part of 23 overall top-three performances on the final day of the Northeast Ohio Open on Saturday, April 8, at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Redshirt senior Amya Clarke (Christ Church, St. Kitts and Nevis) captured both the women's 100 and 200 meters in times of 11.70 and 24.16, respectively.
• Freshman Brian Masai (Kitale, Kenya) won the men's 1,500 meters in a career-best time of 3:51.05.
• Sophomore Brynn Rychlik (Marysville, Ohio) recorded a career-best clearance of 13-0 (3.96m) to take the crown in the women's pole vault.
• Redshirt sophomore Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) eclipsed 17-4.75 (5.30m) to best the field in the men's pole vault.
• Sophomore Grace Henderson (Rostraver Township, Pa.) won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase in her first-ever race in the event in a time of 11:45.97.
• Junior Haruki Sakai (Katori, Japan) captured the men's long jump with a mark of 23-9 (7.24m).
• Redshirt sophomore Danielle Honaker (Ashland, Ohio) bested the field in the women's 10,000 meters in a career-best time of 37:18.39.
• Senior Nuh Andu (Doha, Qatar) finished first in the men's high jump with a season-best mark of 6-8.75 (2.05m).
• Sophomore Adaeze Nwokike (Benin City, Nigeria) crossed the line first in the women's 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.03.

Akron travels to California this upcoming meet to participate in a quartet of meets, including the Mt. Sac Relays.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Redshirt senior Amya Clarke (Christ Church, St. Kitts and Nevis) captured both the women's 100 and 200 meters in times of 11.70 and 24.16, respectively.
• Freshman Brian Masai (Kitale, Kenya) won the men's 1,500 meters in a career-best time of 3:51.05.
