Reimer-Gonzales Named USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Men's Coach of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Akron men's track and field team continued to reap the rewards for its 2026 campaign as Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Kendra Reimer-Gonzales was recognized by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the recipient of the Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year accolades.
In her fourth campaign leading the Akron track and field program, Reimer-Gonzales led Zips' men's and women's programs to team titles at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships, including the men's squad registering a program-record 212 points.
The men's program captured its fourth consecutive and 12th overall MAC outdoor championship on the strength of 11 league champions and seven runner-up performances this past May.

Seven Zips garnered NCAA East Preliminary Round berths including redshirt senior Lane Graham (Killbuck, Ohio), sophomore Amari Noble (Virginia Beach, Va.), sophomore Kaden Rambatt (Sharon, Wis.), junior Andrew Styles (Freeport, Bahamas), redshirt sophomore Jeffrey Usman (Warri, Nigeria), junior Christopher Vance (Parma, Ohio) and redshirt senior Owen Wendl (Medina, Ohio).

Akron ranked No. 14 in the men's hammer and shot put, 17th in the men's discus and 22nd in the men's pole vault in the latest USTFCCCA NCAA event squad rankings.
