LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Akron redshirt sophomore Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) captured the men's pole vault eclipsing 18-2.75 (5.56m) to headline the Zips' performances at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate hosted by Long Beach State on Thursday, April 13.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Garretson captured the men's pole vault with a mark winning mark of 18-2.75 (5.56m), while sophomore Oscar Prieto (Barcelona, Spain) placed sixth besting the bar with a career-best mark of 17-3 (5.26m).
• Senior Amya Clarke (Christ Church, St. Kitts and Nevis) finished fourth in the women's 100 meters in 11.68, while crossing the line eighth in the women's 200 meters in a time of 24.21.
• Sophomore Brynn Rychlik (Marysville, Ohio) placed seventh in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 12-10 (3.91m)
• Sophomore Adaeze Nwokike (Benin City, Nigeria) crossed the line in 14.02 to finish ninth in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
