Flashes Take 2-0 Wagon Wheel Series Advantage

KENT, OHIO – The Akron Zips fell 3-0 in game two of the Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge series at Schoonover Stadium on Saturday.
A pair of weather delays interrupted pace of play as the contest lasted five hours and 22 minutes with each team delivering five hits.
Graduate student IF Nick Arrivo (Ann Arbor, MI) led Akron (13-21, 6-11 MAC) with a pair of base hits, while junior IF Max Bowman (Gahanna, Ohio), junior IF Breydan Cavey (Medina, Ohio) and sophomore C Andrew Horvath (Aurora, Ohio) followed with one hit each.
Kent State (24-10, 11-3 MAC) struck first plating their first run off a hit-by-pitch RBI in the bottom of the first after a 1:15 weather delay. Kent scored again off an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Golden Flashes plated the final run of the in the bottom of the 7th inning.
With the win, Kent State receives a full point for the Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge, establishing a commanding 10-0.5 advantage in the rivalry series.
