Toledo, Ohio – The Akron baseball team fell 24-8 to Toledo in game two of the series at Scott Park Baseball Complex on Saturday.

Akron (9-12,4-4 MAC) scored the game's first run as sophomore OF Ian Pennington (Springboro, Ohio) launched a solo homerun over the right field wall. Toledo (10-11,4-4 MAC) answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning and followed with 12 runs in the second inning and two in the third for an 18-1 advantage. Toledo received multiple-hit performances from seven players as the Rockets scattered 23 hits around the yard.

The Zips plated the next six runs of the game, three in each of the fourth and fifth innings. Akron scored three runs on two hits in the fourth as junior IF Kaito Hara (Houston, Texas) delivered a two RBI double to right field. The following inning, senior IF Nick Arrivo (Ann Arbor, Mich.), junior OF Jack Poist (Hoover, Ala.) and Junior 3B Max Bowman (Gahanna, Ohio) issued back-to-back-to-back homeruns. The Rockets countered with six additional runs before Akron crossed the plate in the final inning.

Akron recorded 11 hits for the eight runs as Arrivo led with a 3-of-5 performance with an RBI followed by Hara and Poist with two hits each.
