Akron Defeats Michigan 11-10, Firestone Hits Two Homeruns for Six RBI

Firestone finished the game hitting 2-for-3 from the plate, including a two-run homer in the first inning and a grand slam in the third for six RBI. He also walked and was hit by a pitch, while scoring three runs.
Sophomore OF Ian Pennington (Springboro, Ohio) also collected two of the Zips eight hits, registering a pair of RBI in the seventh inning for an 11-5 Zips' lead. Junior 3B Max Bowman (Gahanna, Ohio) and sophomore OF Sam Seeker (Norton, Ohio) also drove runs across the plate in the third inning as Akron (8-11, 3-3 MAC) jumped-out to a 9-1 lead.
Michigan (9-11) added a pair of runs in the third and fourth innings before the Zips established the six-run advantage. In the final two innings, the Wolverines attempt at a comeback was halted after a three-run homer cut the Akron lead to one run.
Junior pitcher Brady Biglin (Crestline, Ohio) earned the win, allowing one earned run on one hit in three innings of work.
