Hara Flawless at the Plate, Akron Falls to Dayton

Dayton (4-11, 0-0 A10) started the scoring in the first inning, plating four runs on two hits. Akron (5-10, 1-2 MAC) answered with one run in the bottom of the inning as junior OF Jack Firestone (Zionsville, Ind.) cleared the playing surface, launching a 3-1 fastball over the right centerfield fence. Akron added runs in the fourth (1), sixth (1) and seventh (2) innings, but couldn't overcome another four-run outburst by the Flyers in the top of the fourth inning.
Junior IF Kaito Hara (Houston, Texas) was perfect at the plate for the Zips, reaching base all three times he stepped to the plate. Hara delivered a pair of singles and earned a base on balls, while Firestone and sophomore OF Sam Seeker (Norton, Ohio) also recorded two hits each. Firestone added a single and a walk to the first inning homer, scoring two runs and collecting one RBI on the day. Seeker distributed a double and a single while scoring two runs and collecting two RBI.
Akron is scheduled to be back in action at Skeeles field for a weekend #MACtion series against Bowling Green on Friday through Sunday, March 17-19. Friday's series opener is slated for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
