Zips Host Toledo for Series

AKRON, Ohio- The Akron Zips softball team (10-22, 5-6 MAC) will return home for a series with Toledo. The series kicks off with a doubleheader on Sunday, April 10 with the first game starting at noon. The Zips and Rockets will close the series on Monday, April 11 for a noon first pitch.

Akron (10-22, 5-6 MAC) was swept in a three-game series vs. Ohio in Athens earlier this week. All three games were close with the Zips falling 2-1 in Game One. In Game Two, Akron took a 3-0 lead into the seventh before the Bobcats tied the game and eventually won on a walk-off homer in the eighth. The Zips collected seven hits but left eight batters on base in a 2-0 loss in Game Three.

SCOUTING TOLEDO
The Rockets stand 8-23 overall and 1-9 in conference play after dropping three games against Miami on Tuesday. Sophomores Jenna Kroll crushed her fifth home run of the season in Game Two on Tuesday, while Lauren Erickson hit her first collegiate home run on Wednesday. Senior Aubrey Reed hit .429 with two doubles and one run scored to lead Toledo's offense in the series.
Dana Denner leads the Rockets' bats with a .231 batting average. She's hit six hits including four doubles, and four RBI.
Sydney McKeever leads the team with seven stolen bases. In the circle, Makenna Durieux is 3-1 overall and holds a 3.35 ERA after 31.1 innings pitched. Sophia Knight has put in 74.2 innings of work and holds a 6.47 ERA striking out 63 batters. Â
