AKRON, Ohio- The Akron Zips softball team (12-22, 7-6 MAC) took two games in Saturday's doubleheader with a 6-5 comeback victory, followed by an 11-8 win over Toledo.

GM 1: Akron 6, Toledo 5
Toledo got on the board first before Zips' Katelyn Reynolds (Cincinnati, Ohio) hit a sacrifice fly to tie the score 1-1 in the first.

The Rockets hit a grand slam in the third inning that put Toledo ahead, 5-1. Jaiden Bryant (Hilliard, Ohio) homered to left field in the third that added a Zips' run making it 5-2.

Akron used a 4-run inning to comeback and take a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the sixth innings. The comeback started with an RBI single from Kalli Macintosh-Houlder (Mississauga, Ont.) , followed by an RBI single from Reyolds. Meagan Cotton (Sammamish, Wash.) hit a 2-run homer to left field that put the Zips' ahead, 6-5, and secured the victory.

Alexa DiFeo (Akron, Ohio) gets the win after pitching 4.1 innings giving up no runs and one hit, while string out six batters.

GM 2: Akron 11, Toledo 8
The Rockets struck first taking a 3-0 lead before Bryant hit a 2-run homer, her second home run of the day, that cut it to 3-2.

Toledo plated a run in the second to put the Rockets ahead, 4-2. Akron scored a pair of runs in the third inning by a two-run double from Lexi Campbell (Indianapolis, Ind.) squared the game at 4-4.

Akron extended its lead to 8-4 by adding four runs in the fourth inning. Bryant hit her third homer of the day with a 2-run bomb down the left line. Campbell connected with an RBI double to center field, while Cotton hit an RBI single through second base.

The Zips added a pair of runs in the fifth that put Akron ahead, 11-4. The Rockets tried to comeback with a run in the sixth and three in the seventh, but the Zips held on for the 11-8 victory.

In the circle Olivia Stefanoni (Hudson, Ohio) gets her first win of the season after going 6.1 innings and striking out two batters.

Akron will close out the series on Monday, April 11. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
