ATHENS, Ohio- The Akron Zips softball team (10-22, 5-6 MAC) fell in a pair of closely contested games on Wednesday to Ohio 6-3, and 2-0.

GM 1: Akron 3, Ohio 6
The Zips put up two runs in the second inning that gave Akron a 2-o lead. Tiffany Stevens (Toledo, Ohio) singled to left center to drive in the first run, before Madison Dudek (Uniontown, Ohio) hit a sacrifice fly that scored the second run.

Stevens hit her second RBI of the game in the fourth inning that gave the Zips a 3-0 lead.

The Bobcats tied the game in the seventh inning forcing the game to go to extra innings. Ohio connected on a 3-run homer for the walk-off 6-3 victory.

Elizabeth Frederick (Williamsburg, Pa.) gets the loss after tossing 6.2 innings giving up three runs on eight hits while striking out six batters.

GM 2: Akron 0, Ohio 2
Despite getting seven hits, the Zips were unable to drive in any runs as Akron left a total of eight batters on the bags for the game.

Ohio plated a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly, before adding a run in the fourth off a solo home run that secured the 2-0 victory.

Lexie Petrof (Ligonier, Pa.) suffered the loss after pitching five innings. She gave up two runs on five hits, while fanning two batters.

The Zips will return home this weekend as Akron will host Toledo for a series. Akron will open the series on Saturday, April 9 with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m., before closing the series on Sunday, April 10 at noon.
