AKRON, Ohio- The Akron softball team (17-30, 12-14 MAC) fell short in its double header with Miami to close out the series with a 9-2 loss and a 15-5 setback on Saturday's senior day.

Prior to the fist game, Lexie Petrof (Ligonier, Pa.) and Morgan Cadmus (Tecumesh, Mich.) were honored for senior day.

GM 1: Akron 2, Miami 9
Miami was able to take command of the game right from the beginning by plating five runs in the first inning, followed by adding a run in the second to take a 6-0 lead.

The RedHawks extended their lead to 7-0 after scoring a run in fifth before Akron was able to get on the board in the sixth inning. Katelyn Reynolds (Cincinnati, Ohio) had an RBI ground out, followed by Kalli Macintosh-Houlder (Mississauga, Ont.) hit an RBI double.

Two more runs in the seventh inning were added for Miami as the RedHawks would go on to secure the 9-2 victory.

Olivia Otani (Canton, Ohio) suffered the loss after giving up five runs on three hits.

GM 2: Akron 5, Miami 15
Akron took a 2-0 lead after Lexi Campbell (Indianapolis, Ind. hit an RBI single in the second inning and Tiffany Stevens (Toledo, Ohio) hit an RBI double in the third inning that put the Zips ahead, 2-0.

The RedHawks put together another big scoring inning by plating seven runs in the fourth inning that put Miami in the lead, 7-2.

Macintosh-Houlder hit her second homer of the season with a three-run bomb in the fourth inning to close the RedHawks' lead to 7-5.

A five-run fifth inning followed by a three run sixth inning would secure the 15-5 victory.

Petrof suffered the loss after giving up six runs on nine hits. She struck out two batters.

Akron will close out the season at Ball State on May 7-8. The Zips will open the series on Saturday, May 7 at 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Sunday, May 8.
