AKRON, Ohio- The Akron Zips softball team (16-24, 11-8 MAC) will hit the road this weekend and travel to Bowling Green for a weekend series. The series kicks off with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 23 with the first game starting at 1 p.m. The series will close on Sunday, April 24 with a noon first pitch.

SCOUTING AKRON
The Zips stand 16-24 overall and 11-8 in MAC play after claiming their second conference sweep of the season over Buffalo earlier in the week. Akron opened the series with a 6-5 comeback victory, followed by a 4-0 and 13-9 victory. Lexi Campbell (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Jaiden Bryant (Hilliard, Ohio) led the Zips both having five hits on nine at bats. Madison Dudek (Uniontown, Ohio) registered a team-high five RBI. Pitcher Lexie Petrof (Ligonier, Pa.) finished the series with a 0.72 ERA pitching 9.2 innings fanning 13 batters.

On the season, Molly McChesney (Verona, Wisc,) leads the Zips batting .359, while Bryant has batted in a team-high 21 RBI and eight homers. Angela Cirone (Louisville, Ohio) has stolen a team-high eight bases. In the circle, Petrof stands 6-8 overall and ranks fifth in the league with a 3.02 ERA. She has pitched 85.2 innings giving up 57 runs and fanning 71 batters.

SCOUTING BOWLING GREEN
The Falcons stand 23-13 overall and 9-7 in MAC play after going 1-3 against Miami earlier in the week. Bowling Green kicked off the series with a 4-2 victory over the RedHawks, before falling in the doubleheader with a 9-0 and 1-0 loss.

Greta L'Esperance leads the team with a .379 batting average with 47 hits and 32 runs and 25 stolen bases. Reagan Williamson paces the Falcons with a team-high 28 RBI and seven homers. In the circle, Payton Gottshall stands 17-8 overall with a 1.36 ERA. She has pitched 169.1 innings giving up 39 runs and striking out 259 batters.
